KEYSER - The Mineral County Commission will not be hiring a new county coordinator at this time.

Commissioner Richard Lechliter, speaking for the three elected officials, announced Tuesday evening following a brief executive session at the end of the regular meeting that they have decided at this time to “hold off a little longer” in filling the position.

The county coordinator position has been empty since July 30 when the three commissioners met with Drew Brubaker and informed him he was being relieved of his duties.

The position has been advertised since shortly after that, and Lechliter said the received over 20 applications.

“We will retain all the applicants,” he said Tuesday.

When questioned about the position and whether it would include the same duties and job description as before, Lechliter admitted that the position “may look different” in the future.

“That’s one reason we decided to hold off,” he said.

In the meantime, anyone needing assistance from the county can continue to call the coordinator’s office and the appropriate departments will be available to help them.
