Mineral County has fourth COVID-related death

KEYSER - Mineral County has reported the fourth death related to COVID-19.
According to the Mineral County Health Department, the latest was an 84-year-old female who had been hospitalized due to virus-related illness.
“The Mineral County Health Department would like to extend our deepest sympathies to her family and friends,” administrator A.Jay Root said in a press release.
Health department officials have been working since her isolation and hospitalization to identify and contact any potential persons who may have been in contact wtih her, including family members, friends, co-workers and health care professionals.
The victim was the fourth Mineral County death due to COVID-related issues since the pandemic hit the area in March. The others were a 74-year-old man in May, a 50-year-old male and a 73-year-old male in June.
The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Mineral County continue to rise, with 95 being the last statistic released by the health department on Sunday.
Of that number, 26 cases are currently active.
