WESTERNPORT – Four-wheelers are a common concern from Midland to Westernport and residents are being urged to contact the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department.

Westernport officials noted than an officer from the sheriff’s department is in the area every day, but that they are not receiving reports of the four-wheeler issues.

In response to complaints of smoke from burning, residents wishing to burn are reminded that they must obtain a permit from the county and one from the town.

The council is working on bids for the playground at Maryland Avenue to utilize a grant awarded through Program Open Space for rubber mulch.

In a final note during their monthly meeting, the council passed a resolution to utilize Dawn Beitzel as a circuit rider working on grants for the town.

The council will hold a work session at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 10. Residents are invited to attend in person, online or by phone, but only 10 people will be permitted into town hall.
