CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A sports complex in West Virginia is having its grand opening. A ceremony is set for Tuesday for six new turf soccer fields at the Shawnee Sports Complex in Institute. Exhibition games will be held afterward. The 127-acre (51-hectare) complex west of Charleston also will include four collegiate-size turf baseball and softball fields and several grass practice fields.

Renovated basketball courts and an outdoor swimming pool at the complex are open. A Youth Development Center will provide local children with after-school access and other activities, such as crafts, visual arts, music and computer coding. The complex is being built on a former golf course.
