KEYSER, W.Va. - The Keyser Lady Tornado took down another giant on their home court this season defeating the Maryland Class A No. 1 ranked Southern Garrett Lady Rams 51-46.
KEYSER- When you cross the Memorial Bridge and drive into the city of Keyser, there is an old rugged sign proclaiming the town nickname as the “Friendliest City in the USA”. Certainly the people of Mineral County are neighborly to visitors and one another, but basketball teams outside this region may not agree. On Thursday evening for the 2nd time this season a shocking upset took place inside Keyser High School gymnasium as the Lady Tornado took down the No. 1 ranked team in Class A Maryland, the undefeated Southern Garrett Rams 51-46. Perhaps the city of Keyser should contemplate adding a 2nd nickname to the town entrance ...“Welcome to Upset City”.
Three weeks ago the Lady Tornado knocked off the No. 2 ranked and undefeated North Marion squad 61-55. At the time, it appeared the victory over the Huskies might be the pinnacle of the season, but after the big win over Southern Garrett the Lady Tornado proved the North Marion victory was no fluke. Keyser proved to themselves and basketball fans they can play with anybody, especially when playing at home.
