Mary Ellen (Bruno) Fertig

Keyser - Mary Ellen (Bruno) Fertig, 70, of Keyser, WV, died on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland, MD.

Born in Philippi, WV on September 10, 1951, she was a daughter of the late John Bruno, Sr. and Wanda (Wiles) Bruno. The family moved to Cumberland, MD for a brief time before settling in the Fountain area outside of Keyser. She was the oldest of five children and enjoyed growing up in a large family in the country. There was always a board game being played or outdoor activity taking place. She enjoyed spending summers at the family summer camp at Milleson's Mill on the South Branch River, where she loved to swim, fish and participate in the big card games that were held with the family and the many friends that were made there.

Mary graduated from Keyser High School in 1969 and studied book keeping at the Mineral County Vocational Technical Center. She married and moved to Nebraska, where her only child, Stacey Lynn was born. They moved to Falls Church, VA before returning to Keyser. She worked as a nanny for several families in the Keyser area and in later years, loved to hear about what those children had grown up to be. She also worked for several businesses, including Jimmy's Pizza Shop and in the dietary department at Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.

She also enjoyed bowling in several different leagues, drawing, painting, doing jigsaw puzzles and was an avid reader.

Surviving is her daughter, Stacey Lynn Dennison and husband Dennis of Short Gap, WV; her precious grandsons, Hunter, John and Dennis Dennison; siblings, John Bruno, Jr. and wife Denise, Jim Bruno and wife Donna, Joann Yetzer and husband Bill and Janet Grady and husband FJ. Also surviving are may nieces, nephews, cousins, one uncle, four aunts and many friends made through the years.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
