KEYSER - Area firefighters found themselves in familiar territory early Friday morning as they battled a blaze at a Third Street home that had previously been the scene of an arson fire in March.

The fire at 93 Third St. in Keyser had been discovered at approximately 8 a.m. Friday by an officer with the Keyser Police Department who had answered a call for a report of a person screaming in the area.

According to reports, the officer heard a popping noise while on the scene, then discovered the fire in the two-story home that had alerady been gutted by a late-night fire on March 5.

Following an investigation into the March fire by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office, Keyser resident Neil David Lambka, 48, was charged in June with intentionally setting the fire that left occupant Petrranna Leatherman without a home.

Lambka remains incarcerated in the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta.
