KEYSER - Mineral County’s total number of positive COVID-19 cases took a jump by seven over the weekend.

According to results released by the Mineral County Health Department late Monday afternoon, the total number of positives since March jumped to 78, with 12 of those being currently active.

A total of 63 are considered recovered from the virus since March, and three county residents have died from COVID or COVID-related issues.

The numbers took a jump in Mineral County just as the West Virginia DHHR reported that, as of 5 p.m. Monday, there have been 234,857 statewide total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 5,142 total cases and 100 deaths.

In alignment with updated definitions from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the statistics include probable cases which are individuals that have symptoms and either serologic (antibody) or epidemiologic (e.g., a link to a confirmed case) evidence of disease, but no confirmatory test.
