NEW CREEK - The New Creek Water Association is presently notifying customers in their service area of the possible need to install backflow prevention devices and eliminate cross connections to the public water system.
The action is necessary in order to bring New Creek into compliance with  current laws and regulations established by the State of West Virginia. Title 64-25 Legislative Rule requires public water utilities to establish a policy and review all connections to public water supply to prevent cross connection and backflow contamination of the water system.
The review and inspection are necessary to learn what may be needed at each site to prevent contamination of the public water lines. A letter will be sent to the affected customers in the upcoming weeks to arrange for a time for the inspection. It is highly recommended that the customer have someone available to walk through the inspection with them.
Failure to have this inspection done and any necessary devices or modifications to meet state and federal government requirements can result in termination of water service.
The inspector will have a company ID and letter explaining the program.
