A child was hit in the arm in a drive-by shooting at a Petersburg apartment complex; 12 hours later, a man was found in Delectable Heights with life-threatening gunshot wounds
PETERSBURG — Police are investigating two shootings in the city within 12 hours of each other that left two people injured — one of them seriously.
The first occurred around 9 p.m. Thursday in the 2300 block of Navajo Court in east Petersburg. Police said the victim, a 9-year-old girl, was struck in the arm by a bullet from an apparent drive-by shooting in an apartment complex. The child, who was inside one of the apartments, was taken to a hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
The second shooting took place Friday morning on the 700 block of St. John Court in the city’s Delectable Heights area. A man was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was Medflighted to a Richmond hospital with life-threatening injuries.
