KEYSER - The MINCO Festival Window Display Committee has partnered with The Liberty Library Corporation to invite downtown area businesses to try something new.
All area businesses and organizations are welcome to participate in the month-long festival. The year’s theme is 1920s -1930s honoring Piedmont native Leslie Thrasher, his Liberty Magazine covers, advertisements, and artworks.
The committee would love to see all windows along Main and Armstrong streets decorated to welcome many visitors and those who come to the MINCO Festival Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17. Business owners who choose not to decorate their window are invited to make their windows available to other clubs, organizations, collectors, and historians looking for space for their displays.
Get in on the fun and entice customers to your business with a unique window display. It’s something new in downtown Keyser to attract more area tourism and weekend shoppers.
Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places. The committee is asking businesses to use at least one quarter of their window space for the display, and that the displays will reflect Thrasher’s life as one of the most famous Liberty Magazine’s illustrators.
Register your business or group by filling out an entry form. The contest runs for the whole month of May and displays must be up by May 4. Public judging will be done at local businesses starting May 4 and ending May 17. Voting ballots will be available at participating businesses. The displays should remain up until the end of the month of May. Winners are determined by citizens and how many votes each window display receives.
Window displays are a great opportunity for area collectors, historians, businesses, organizations, and clubs to promote themselves.
