FORT ASHBY-The Frankfort High School Falcon Marching Band has enjoyed a successful few weeks at band competitions throughout the region. 
On Saturday, Sept. 21, the 85-member band traveled to Kingwood for the Preston High School Music in the Mountains competition. Competing with the Buckhannon-Upshur High School Band, the Frankfort Band captured the first place award. They also earned awards for best percussion and best color guard.
On Saturday, Sept. 28, ”Mineral County's Finest" performed at Greenway Avenue Stadium at the Allegany Preview of Champions competition. The band met the Martinsburg High School Band in competition and again placed first in its group, as well as earning awards for best music, best visual effect, best percussion, and best color guard.
The Falcon Marching Band has a busy performance schedule in October. In addition to performing at Friday night football games, the band will compete at the West Virginia Marching Band Invitational at Laidley Field in Charleston on Saturday, Oct. 19.  Frankfort Band director Roger Walker will be inducted into the West Virginia Band Director Hall of Fame at the show. 
The band is also slated to perform in the South Cumberland Halloween Parade on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
