RAWLINGS - A Ridgeley man was arrested and a Rawlings man critically injured as the result of a truck/motorcycle accident Tuesday at the intersection of Routes 220 and 956.

RAWLINGS - A Ridgeley man was arrested and a Rawlings man critically injured as the result of a truck/motorcycle accident Tuesday at the intersection of Routes 220 and 956.
According to the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene at approximately 8:43 p.m. Tuesday for a report of motor vehicle crash with injuries.
Upon arrival they determined that a 2012 Ford pickup truck operated by Todd Sloane, 62, of Ridgeley,  had been traveling south on Rt. 220 when he attempted to turn onto Rt. 956.  Sloane's vehicle pulled into the path of a northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Tanner Van Meter, 21, of Rawlings.
Van Meter was initially  transported to the Western Maryland Health System for treatment of serious injuries. He was later transferred to the University of Maryland's Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
 During the course of the investigation, deputies detected the odor of alcohol emanating from Sloane. He was administered standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI-related charges.
Crash reconstructionists with the Sheriff's Office, and the Cumberland City Police responded to the scene, and are continuing to investigate the collision.
The Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department and EMS division also responded to the scene.
Route 220 remained closed for approximately two hours.
