KEYSER - New Creek Primary School will have a new principal when school opens Thursday, and Frankfort High School will soon have a new assistant principal.
The Mineral County Board of Education voted 4-0 Tuesday evening to name Tanya Clark to the vacant position as principal at New Creek, with her starting date to be Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Clark, currently school instructional specialist at Fort Ashby Primary, will replace long-time New Creek principal Robin McDowell, who was named last month to the county position of assistant director of curriculum and instruction.
The board also voted 4-0 to appoint Orie Pancione of Fort Ashby to the position of assistant principal at Frankfort, which was left vacant with the promotion last month of Kelly Haines to director of curriculum and instruction for secondary and career education.
Pancione, who holds a master’s degree from Salem International University, is currently employed as assistant principal at Hampshire High School in Romney.
He will assume his new job in Mineral County as soon as his resignation is accepted by the Hampshire County Board of Education.
The vote was 4-0 because board member Rob Woy was not present for the meeting.
