PIEDMONT - The Tri-Towns Homefest will kick off in Piedmont tonight with the annual Parade on Wheels.
Started by Piedmont resident Annie Twyman several years ago, the Parade on Wheels is now held in her memory. It is open to all Tri-Towns area children who deck out their bikes, trykes, scooters, Power Wheels, or basically anything on wheels, and parade through Piedmont to show off their creations.
Lineup starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Piedmont Pool, and the parade moves at 6 p.m.
Participants travel around several blocks in Piedmont, and find themselves back at the pool for a pool party.
Prizes are awarded by the Piedmont Concerned Citizens.
The main feature parade is on Friday, with lineup for that to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Third Street in Piedmont. The parade moves at 6 p.m. and takes the traditional route through Piedmont, across the bridge into Westernport, and up Main Street to disband in the area of Roderick’s Furniture.
The annual truck pull, which traditionally raises funds for a youngster in medical need with ties to the Tri-Towns, will follow the parade and will be held in Westernport at approximately 7:30 p.m.
