FAIRMONT - The Keyser High School Marching Band braved rain, lightning delays and even hail Saturday to come out on top of the Tournament of Bands Chapter 13 Championships at Fairmont State University.

FAIRMONT - The Keyser High School Marching Band braved rain, lightning delays and even hail Saturday to come out on top of the Tournament of Bands Chapter 13 Championships at Fairmont State University.
The Golden Tornado won the night with a top score of 85.55, and also swept all the caption awards - first place in Group 1 Open, Best Music, Best Marching, Best Percussion and Best Color Guard.
Keyser competed in Group 1-Open against North Marion High School, which scored a distant 76.75.

With the Chapter 13 championship feather in their caps, the Golden Tornado Band is ranked 12th in its group in the region. They will travel to Hershey, Pennsylvania, Nov. 3-4, where they will compete in the Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Championships at Hershey Park Stadium.
They are the only band from West Virginia that qualified to compete at Hershey, and will be facing some tough competition - Frederick High School of Frederick, Maryland, Colonel Richardson High School of Federalsburd, Maryland, Haddon Heights High School of Haddon Heights, New Jersey, Monsignor Farrell High School of Staten Island, New York, Delran High School of Delran, New Jersey, Brunswick High School of Brunswick, Maine, Pemberton High School of Pemberton, New Jersey, Arthur L. Johnson High School of Clark, New Jersey, Matawan Regional High School of Aberdeen, New Jersey, Lake Leyman High School of Lehman Township, Pennsylvania, Audubon High School of Audubon, New Jersey, Biglerville High School of Biglerville, Pennsylvania, Donegal High School of Mountjoy, Pennsylvania, Youngsville High School of Youngsville, Pennsylvania, Northern Lehigh High School of Slatington, Pennsylvania, and Maplewood High School of Guys Mill, Pennsylvania.
Competition is set to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, but no specific time is listed for Keyser on the TOB website.
