KEYSER - The Children’s League is pleased to announce the expansion of the Scottish Rite Early Childhood Language Disorders Clinic, “Rite Care.”
Through the cooperation and collaboration with the Mineral County Health Department, speech therapy is now offered to children birth to 21 at the Mineral County Health Department in Keyser.
Cathy Growden, executive director of The Children’s League, stated, “The Children’s League is excited to offer speech therapy services in Mineral County. We are pleased that this partnership between The Children’s League, the Cumberland Scottish Rite and the Mineral County Health Department will ensure that Mineral County children have access to free, professional speech therapy near to where they live, learn, and play.”
Since 1997, The Children’s League has managed and operated the Cumberland “Rite Care” clinic. In October 2017, speech therapy services were expanded with the opening of the Garrett County “Rite Care” clinic held at the Paul B Naylor Masonic Hall. The Cumberland Scottish Rite since 1997 has contributed more than $265,000 to support free diagnostic evaluations and treatment of speech and language disorders to equip children in our communities with the ability and skills to lead productive lives. Rite Care speech-language disorder clinics have improved the lives of more than 1,500 children in Western Maryland and the surrounding region. The Children’s League managed Rite Care Speech-Language Clinics are now available at three locations in Allegany and Garrett counties in Maryland and the newly opened Mineral County location in Keyser.
A.Jay Root, RS, administrator of the Mineral County Health Departmen,t states, ”We at the health department are proud to partner with the Children’s League and the Scottish Rite to bring this service to our community. It is an excellent program and is definitely needed.”
