BURLINGTON-The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office is till searching for a Burlington man that is wanted on drug charges. Early Sunday morning deputies were called out to Knobley Road in Burlington for a suspicious vehicle report. As Deputies arrived one man fled the scene on foot, he was later identified as 28 year-old Rodney VanMeter of Burlington. VanMeter fled into a wooded area, drooping firearms and what is suspected to be Chrystal Meth on his path. Three other individuals that were in the car were arrested at that time and face drug charges. The individuals were identified as Ronnie Arnold, Nicole Delawder, and Joseph Leatherman.
Deputies called in K-9 units and Trooper 5 to help assist in the capture of Van Meter. He was not found. Later on officers found another vehicle at the scene, the occupant was Amber Saville, girlfriend to VanMeter, she allegedly had been in contact with VanMeter and had drove him back to the scene to try and recover the items he had dropped while fleeing. Saville was arrested for obstruction of justice. VanMeter remains at large and anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office.
