Greater Cumberland Committee to discuss MinCo Day, PACE

CUMBERLAND - The Greater Cumberland Committee’s membership meeting is slated for Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at 11:30 a.m.  at the Cumberland Country Club. 
The agenda will include a panel discussion to highlight the importance of participation at the upcoming Mineral County Day and PACE events planned in later January.  
Distinguished panelists will include Sen. David Sypolt (WV), Del. Gary Howell (WV), Sen. George Edwards (MD), Del. Wendell Beitzel (MD), Del. LeRoy Myers (MD), Garrett County Commissioner Jim Raley, and Mineral County Commission President Cindy Pyles, who will share insight into the various legislative talking points in conjunction with TGCC’s goal of regional relevance. 
Mineral County Days will be held Jan. 11-13 in Charleston with a State of the State address, meetings with department heads, staff and legislators, a luncheon at the Capitol and an evening reception at Embassy Suites.  Discussions will focus on specific issues relating to Mineral County in the areas of transportation and economic development as well as recognizing advances in the county. 
P.A.C.E. is held at the Annapolis Loew’s Hotel on Jan. 26-27 and includes a reception and legislative breakfast, as well as sufficient time before and after each event to engage the Maryland Delegation on issues specific to Mountain Maryland.  Talking points include the North/South Highway, Marcellus Shale, support of broadband funding, Eastern Continental Loop, tourism promotion funding and ICF Canoe/Slalom Championships.
