Falcons rally, repeat as spring soccer champs

CUMBERLAND—The championship game of the Cumberland Area Girls Spring  Soccer league was held on Saturday, June 13 with the Falcons scoring two second half goals to defeat the Spartans. 2-1.
Catherine Czapski gave the Spartans a 1-0 halftime lead with an unassisted goal, but Morgan Turley and Kara  Collage scored in the second half to give the Falcons their second championship.
Shay Turley and Emily  Livingston had assists for the Falcons.
Lexi Conley for the Falcons and Alice Helmstetter for the Spartans each had six saves.
The win completed an undefeated season for the Falcons who finished with a 10-0-0 record.
The league is for girls in 6-12 grades from area high schools and  their feeder schools.
This season eight teams representing Bishop Walsh, Fort Hill, Frankfort and Mt. Ridge were in  the league.
Any school interested in entering a team next  season should contact J.R. Crabtree at 301-724-7488.
