Catamounts storm past Cecil 7-1

KEYSER, W.Va. -

 Potomac State received a strong pitching performance as three Catamount hurlers combined to allow just one hit as Potomac State topped Cecil Community College by a score of 7-1 Saturday at Golden Park.
Game two of the scheduled twin bill was rained out after one inning of play with PSC holding a 3-2 lead.
Andy Berry, Matt Morrone and Wes Gross combined to strike out 10 of the 27 hitters they faced and allowed just one hit, an RBI single from Franklin Lee in the fourth inning.  Berry picked up the win top raise his mark to 5-0.
 Potomac State meanwhile received RBI’s from five different hitters as Pete Savage, Brock Stevens, Kevin Griffin, Chris Szafran, Jason Lombard and Kyle Orensky all drove in runs for PSC.
Matt Schrader led off the second inning with a double and scored on Savage’s single to make the score 1-0.  Jacke Healey then reached on an error to put runners at first and second.  Griffin then laced a double that scored Savage, and one batter latter Szafran singled to score Healey.
    Potomac State scored their next run in the third inning on a double steal by Stevens and Orensky.  Lombard then drove in Orensky with a double to right center field.
PSC added two more in the fourth when Szafran singled, stole second and scored on an RBI single from Stevens.  Stevens then scored on a single from Orensky.
 PSC, 34-7, was on the road Sunday as they finish up their regular season with a double header at CCBC-Catonsville at 1PM.  Game results were not available at press time.
