SHORT GAP—For a team that was expected to be strong throwing the ball, the Frankfort Falcons sure can run it, too.
FHS rolled up 287 yards on 50 carries, finishing with 30 first downs in a 42-7 clinic against defending Class AA state champions Grafton on Friday night at Falcon Stadium.
Riding that ground game, the Falcons controlled the ball for over 30 minutes.
Frankfort built a 14-0 halftime lead on a one-yard run by quarterback James Jones and a 14-yard scamper by Jeremy Miltenberger.
In the third quarter, FHS turned on the jets.
Daniel McCormick became the third different Falcon to fly into the end zone, darting 73 yards to paydirt with 5:25 left in the frame.
Miltenberger added his second score at the 2:14 mark, and Jones’ second quarterback sneak from one yard out capped the period.
After Grafton’s lone touchdown, Ben Brown capped the scoring with 9:16 left in the game, scoring from four yards out.
Grafton completed only four of 16 passing attempts.
Logan Wolford was 6-for-6 on extra points for the Falcons, who will look to remain perfect on the young season Friday night against Berkeley Springs, who dropped to 0-3 with a loss to Hampshire Friday night.
