PETERSBURG—The Keyser Little League 9-10 year old All-Stars advanced to the regional championship with a 10-6 win Sunday over the Hampshire County All-Stars.
Keyser will play against Moorefield Tuesday night for the championship and an automatic bid to next week’s district tournament.
Even with a loss Tuesday night, Keyser could still advance to the district tourney, as each region sends two representative teams.
Keyser’s 9-10 team has never advanced to the district tourney.
Keyser’s Andrew Liller was the team leader Sunday, stroking two singles with three RBIs and earning the win on the mound.
Liller’s strong start on the hill included four innings of work, allowing only two runs while striking out eight batters.
Camden White came on in the last inning with two runners on base to record the last two outs and secure a spot in the championship game.
Matthew Liller also had a nice day at the plate, with two singles and three runs scored.
White also chipped in with two singles, while Dalton Wilt, Amonte Turner, and Jacob Kessel had one hit each and Cade Staggers added two runs scored.
Coaches praised Brady Ours (catcher) and Amonte Turner (CF) for solid defensive performances.
