SHORT GAP—What a difference a week makes.
After needing overtime to win at Moorefield last week, the Frankfort Falcons crushed the Yellow Jackets, 70-32, on home turf on Tuesday night.
“The boys played very well. We were able to push the ball on offense,” said FHS coach Scott Slider.
Logan Wolford scored 19 points to lead Frankfort.
James Jones posted a double-double of 14 points and 17 rebounds.
“James cleaned up inside. There’s no other way to say it,” said Slider.
Marcus Weaver was right behind with 13 points.
Aaron Freeman led Moorefield with nine tallies.
Frankfort led 12-7 after the first quarter and 29-17 at the half, but really turned on the jets in the third period, out-scoring MHS 23-4 to build a 31-point lead.
The win wasn’t without a scare, though: guard Robbie Heltzel missed a large portion of the third quarter with an injury, but FHS coach Scott Slider inserted him back into the game in the fourth quarter and said he “looked fine”.
Every Falcon scored.
“It was a great game to coach,” said Slider.
Moorefield won the JV game, 37-23.
Matt Grogg had ten points for FHS.
Frankfort (11-8) hosts Keyser in a freshman/JV/varsity tripleheader beginning at 4:15 p.m. tonight.
Keyser won the first meeting by one point on a Peyton Hartman block at the buzzer.
