PETERSBURG—The Keyser Golden Tornado wrestlers captured the 2012 Viking Smash with a perfect 9-0 record in action on Friday and Saturday.
Frankfort finished with a 3-4 record.
Both KHS and Frankfort placed several wrestlers in the top three in their weight class.
Finishing first were Frankfort's Cody Vargo (106, 9-0) and Keyser's Corbin White (170, 9-0)
In second place were Keyser's Zach Cannon (113, 7-2), Cody Whitlock (132, 7-0), Jacob Mellott (152, 7-1), and Derek Wilt (195, 8-1), and Frankfort's Braxton Lewis (160, 7-2)
Taking third place were Frankfort's Derek George (120, 6-1), Stefan Buser (126, 6-1), and Keyser's William Shoemaker (160, 6-2), Max Redman (182, 7-2), and Josh Napier (285, 7-2).
Keyser defeated Philip Barbour (60-18), Petersburg (66-12), Notre Dame (72-6), Lincoln (43-31), Berkeley Springs (42-26), Moorefield (66-6), Liberty Harrison (45-30), Frankfort (48-30), Grafton (54-20)
Frankfort beat Petersburg (48-17), Notre Dame (42-18), and Philip Barbour (30-24) and lost to Berkeley Springs (36-24), Liberty Harrison (43-30), Lincoln (39-24), and Keyser (48-30)
Both schools will compete in the PVC Tournament at Keyser on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
