Frankfort Varsity 66, Red Storm Varsity 47
CUMBERLAND—Maddie Shambaugh’s 17 points, including five made three-pointers, and six assists led the Frankfort Varsity girls’ summer league team to a 66-47 win over the Red Storm Varsity on Monday evening in the season finale for both teams.
Frankfort quickly jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game, with Mikala Miller and Katie Bush each scoring four points.
Frankfort took their first double-digit lead at 14-4 on a Katie Jan basket.
The advantage stretched to 17 points, 22-5, on a jumper by Shambaugh.
Red Storm then went on an 8-0 run to move back within single digits, but Shambaugh canned back-to-back threes and then, after a Red Storm layup, dished to Miller for an open shot to re-establish a 15-point lead.
Frankfort led, 39-22, at halftime.
A Shambaugh three with 18:49 left in the second half gave Frankfort their first 20-point lead, 44-24.
The Red Storm pulled within 14 points midway through the half, but Miller scored five straight points to restore Frankfort’s comfortable lead and put things back into cruise control.
Bush (15 points), Miller (13 points), and Jan (11 points) also finished in double figures.

Health Matters 36, Berlin 27
CUMBERLAND—Carly Grady’s 17 points topped Health Matters in a low-scoring 36-27 win over Berlin Varsity on Monday night.
Trailing 6-3 early, Grady scored off a good dish from Brooke Mangold to pull Health Matters within one point, but Berlin went up by five, 13-8, with 12 minutes gone in the first half.
But a basket by Alexis Carr, a free throw by Taneasha Harper, and a pair of makes at the line by Grady tied the game at 13 heading to halftime.
After an exchange of baskets, Meghan Anderson’s three gave Health Matters their first lead since 2-0.
The lead was stretched to three points, 20-17, by an Elizabeth Yaider layup.
After a Berlin basket, Health Matters went on a 7-0 run, with Grady scoring six points, and led the rest of the way.
