SHORT GAP—Terra McKenzie and Kaitlynn Fratz teamed up for 45 points to outscore the entire Lady Falcons team, as the Northern Huskies rolled over Frankfort, 63-43, last night in Short Gap.
McKenzie went for the game-high in points with 23, while Fratz followed closely with 22 of her own.
The Huskies’ nine team fouls helped to keep things tight throughout the first quarter, but the visiting bench’s offense showed up early and, as the Falcons would later find, it showed up often.
Fratz came right out of the gates for a trey to get the ballgame underway.
After some back-and-forth scoring, the contest was knotted up at seven apiece and the Falcons pushed ahead with a 5-0 run.
Northern fought back with a McKenzie free throw and another Fratz three-ball to cut the deficit to one.
Frankfort got one from the stripe to make it a two point affair, and McKenzie answered with two in the paint for the Huskies to tie it at 13.
McKenzie struck again from the paint right before the horn, and the Huskies took a 15-13 lead into the start of the second frame.
Northern would lead the rest of the way, as a 22-9 second quarter slate would put the away side ahead by a count of 37-22 at the half.
Any hope of a Falcon comeback would be dowsed by more of the Huskies’ offense over the closing two quarters of play, and the Northern crowd left Short Gap

with one for the win column, 63-43.
Saydi Whiteman led the home team with 13 points and Madi Shambaugh chipped in with 10 for the Falcons.
Frankfort drops to 6-9 with last night’s loss and the Lady Falcons will take to the hardwood again on Tuesday, when they welcome in the Petersburg Vikings.
Frankfort handed Petersburg their only loss on the 2009-10 campaign last Tuesday, when the Falcons crushed the Vikings, 67-49, in Petersburg.
