SHORT GAP- In the battle for Mineral County supremacy Frankfort entered Friday nights contest on a 3 game winning streak. Coming off impressive wins over Petersburg 72-51, MVCA 74-43, and Fort Hill 49-36, the Falcons stretched their wings and used their defensive length to prevail 58-35 over arch-rival Keyser.

The Keyser Golden Tornado entered the game with some confidence after a 62-56 4th quarter comeback victory over Grafton. That confidence was quickly dissolved by Frankfort as the Falcons played tough physical defense in the paint in all 4 quarters of the game. The big key to victory for the Falcons was their ability to force 15 Keyser turnovers with several of those turnovers coming on an 18-0 run in the 2nd half. Frankfort ran the table from the tipoff leading 16-7 after the 1st quarter and 28-18 at halftime. The Golden Tornado trimmed the lead down to 3 midway through the 3rd quarter but Frankfort went on a 15-0 run to end the quarter giving them a comfortable 45-27 lead entering the 4th quarter.

Frankfort was led by Jansen Knotts who had a solid day in the paint and dropped in 15 points, while Parker Riley hit a pair of 3 pointers and finished the game with a total of 13 points. Zach Whitacre was perfect from the charity stripe and added 10 points to the Falcons total. Blake Wasson was another player that used his length defensively to stifle the Keyser attack, and he managed to score 9 points on the other end of the court.
Drew Mauzy was a key contributor in the paint pulling down big rebounds and also tossed in 7 points for the Falcons.

For the Golden Tornado Ryan Shoemaker was the leading scorer, yet shockingly, he did not hit 1 field goal from the floor throughout the entire game. Shoemaker went 8 for 10 from the free throw line and finished the game with 8 points. Dylan See was the 2nd leading scorer for Keyser with 6 points hitting two 3 pointers.

Brady Ours scored 5 points, Trevlan Baker 4 points, and Willie Ack finished with 3 points. Next up for the Falcons (4-1) is a home game vs Bishop Walsh on December 28th. Next up for the Golden Tornado (1-3) is an away game at Tucker County on Friday December 29th with tipoff scheduled for 7:30PM.
