SHORT GAP- The Frankfort Falcons used the offensive force led by Abby Beeman to destroy their Mineral County rival Keyser 72-40 on Friday night.
Frankfort jumped out to an early 16-9 lead as fast break opportunities allowed Abby to score 11 points in the first quarter. In the second quarter the story was much the same as the Lady Tornado struggled to hit open shots, which led to fast break scoring chances for the Falcons. At halftime the score was 31-17, as Keyser went 7 of 30 from the floor in the first half.
The start of the 3rd quarter saw momentum shift to the black and gold as the Lady Tornado fought back and trimmed the lead down to 6 points 43-37. Lexi Turner led the charge with 10 points in the 3rd quarter while Kearstin Lucas was able to drop in 8 points to help the Keyser comeback. Frankfort took a timeout to regroup and slow the momentum, and that is exactly what happened, as the next 3 Keyser possessions resulted in turnovers and easy baskets for Frankfort.
Heading into the 4th quarter the Falcons led 50-37, and Frankfort continued to apply pressure until the game was out of reach. Frankfort was led by Abby Beeman with 29 points, Macie Miller with 10 points, and Makenna Douthitt dropped 12 points.
