The Frankfort Falcons defeated the Philip Barbour Colts on Wednesday night to capture the Class AA Region 1 Section 1 Championship.

SHORT GAP- Led by Head Coach Brooke Alkire, the Frankfort Falcons Volleyball team finished the regular season with an impressive 17-5 record while claiming the No.1 seed for the Class AA Region 1 Section 1 Championship.
On Monday evening the sectional tournament got started as Keyser defeated Berkeley Springs for a chance to play against the top seeded Frankfort Falcons. Frankfort easily dismantled Keyser in 3 games (25-5, 25-4, 25-14) to earn a berth in the sectional championship game against the Philip Barbour Colts.
On a chilly Wednesday evening from Short Gap, the Falcons started the first game ice cold as Philip Barbour won 25-10. In Game 2 the Falcons fought back. Tied 17-17, Frankfort went on a 8-1 run to capture a 25-18 victory using a late game surge. Throughout the gymnasium there was a sense the momentum finally shifted in favor of the Falcons. Frankfort led Game 3 from start to finish with a 25-19 victory.
Just 1 win shy of a sectional championship, Game 4 was a back and forth affair as the Colts fought hard to overcome the loud student section and the intense play of the Falcons. Tied at 16 the Falcons used another late game power surge to outscore the Colts 9-4 and officially claim the Sectional Championship.
Statistically the Falcons were led by Caitlin Davis with 2 aces, 9 kills, and 15 digs, while Claire Howell finished with 15 kills, and Kayla Grose had 5 kills and 12 digs.
Macie Miller posted 2 aces and 2 blocks, and her teammate Chloe Puffinburger finished with 3 aces, and 25 assists. Jordon Irving had 5 kills and 2 blocks, Alli Hockaday had 2 aces, while Savana Jenkins had 12 digs.
Next up for the Frankfort Falcons is the regional tournament which is scheduled to be played at Philip Barbour on Saturday November 4th at 6:00PM.
