SHORT GAP - Coming off their first victory of the season last week against Hampshire, Mountain Ridge extended their win streak as they came into Short Gap and handed the Frankfort Falcons their 5th straight loss.
Mountain Ridge received the opening kickoff and started the drive at their own 37, on 3rd down and long a fumble on the snap was recovered by Frankfort’s David Blanco.
After the turnover Frankfort’s first possession started with excellent field position at the Mountain Ridge 37, however the stingy Miner defense forced a 3 and out and a punt.
From their own 20, the Miners put together a scoring drive that was capped at the 7:01 mark as Quarterback Alec Deremer hit Tre Smith on a pop pass down the middle for a 47 yard touchdown, PAT good, Mountain Ridge 7-Frankfort 0
After the Mountain Ridge touchdown, the Frankfort drive stalled as consecutive false start penalties marched the Falcons in the wrong direction as they were forced to punt.
After the Frankfort punt, the Miners took possession at the Falcon 33 and put together their second successful drive as Tristan Pinto took the handoff up the middle for the 3 yard touchdown to extend the Miner lead, PAT Good, with 2:26 left in the opening period Mountain Ridge 14-Frankfort 0.
JJ Blank returned the ensuing kickoff into Mountain Ridge territory to set up the Falcons with their best field position of the night, 2 plays later with 1:51 remaining Dalton Pollock took the handoff off tackle turned on the jets down the left sideline and out ran the Miner defense to put Frankfort on the scoreboard, PAT Good,  Mountain Ridge 14-Frankfort 7.
Mountain Ridge marched down the field into scoring territory again however the Falcon defense held strong forcing a Miner field goal attempt which was no good wide right.
After the missed field goal, the Frankfort offense kept the momentum from their previous scoring drive Nick Marley took the carry off tackle exploding down the right sideline 64 yards for the next Falcon touchdown, PAT Good, with 10:53 remaining in the 2nd Quarter, Mountain Ridge 14-Frankfort 14.
Following the Frankfort touchdown to tie the game, Mountain Ridge once again found the endzone on their next possession as Alec Deremer found Tre Smith again down the middle for the Miner touchdown to retake the lead, PAT no good, with 6:07 remaining in the second quarter Mountain Ridge 20-Frankfort 14.
Following the Mountain Ridge touchdown, Frankfort was unable to get the offense going and were forced to punt.
The Miners fumbled their on next possession, the Frankfort defense recovered the fumble that gave the Falcons a scoring opportunity before the half, however once again were forced to punt.
With :22 seconds remaining in the first half, the heavy dosage of Tristan Pinto continued as he extended the Miner lead on a 8 yard touchdown run, PAT Good to make the halftime score Mountain Ridge 27-Frankfort 14.
Frankfort returned the second half kickoff to their own 35 however the Mountain Ridge defense held strong once again to force a punt. After the punt, the Miner offense made quick work of the drive as Tristan Pinto took the handoff and found the endzone from 40 yards out for his third touchdown of the night, PAT Good, Mountain Ridge 34-Frankfort 14.
Frankfort desperately needed a drive to cut into the second half deficit, however the Miner defense continued to show their force as the Falcons were forced to punt once again.
The Miners offense kept it rolling as Bryson Sivic dove over the pile from 1 yard out to extend their lead, PAT Good Mountain Ridge 41-Frankfort 14 with 4:51 remaining in the 3rd Quarter.
Frankfort punted on their next possession as the Miner defense continued to hold their own.
The following Miner possession found endzone again as Tristan Pinto found paydirt for the fourth time of the game, the PAT was blocked by David Blanco, with :49 seconds left in the third quarter Mountain Ridge 47-Frankfort 14.
With 8:30 remaining Coby Fair found the endzone, PAT Good, Mountain Ridge 54-Frankfort 14.
The ensuing kickoff was bobbled and returned by Jonathan Beachy 95 yards for the Frankfort touchdown for the final score of the night, PAT no good, Mountain Ridge 54-Frankfort 20.
Next up: Mountain Ridge (2-3) will travel to Chestnut Ridge meanwhile Frankfort (1-5) will look to get back into the win column as they stay home to face Washington in Short Gap.
