FROSTBURG- The Mountain Ridge Miners have faced John Marshall, Hedgesville, and Allegany and were still seeking their first win.
The Miners lost to Allegany last Friday 63-7. Last night against Hampshire, the Miners came out a whole different team winning 48-14.

Mountain Ridge was led by Tristan Pinto.  Pinto rushed for 237 yards and had four touchdowns.  Even though the Miners had no passing yards, they combined for 489 yards on 66 rushes.  
Bryson Sivic rushed for 81 yards on 14 carries and Trent Merbaugh rushed for 67 yards on nine rushes.  The Miners led 21-0 at halftime.  
Tristan Pinto scored two touchdowns at 10:05 and 4:06 in the second quarter, both inches from the end zone.  Trent Merbaugh scored on a 30 yard run at 6:34, also in the second quarter.  A couple minutes into the third quarter Pinto scored again on a one yard carry to the end zone to make the score 28-0.  
The Trojans responded at 4:51 when Jensen Catlett intercepted the ball and ran it back for their first touchdown of the night.  
In the fourth quarter, Pinto scored his fourth and final touchdown on a 33 yard run.  The Trojans quarterback Grant Mayfield then ran the ball 65 yards for their second and final touchdown of the night with 10:13 left in the game.  
Bryson Sivic then scored another touchdown on a 1 yard run to make it 41-14.  With seconds left in the game Cobey Fair scored the Miners final touchdown of the night on a 30 yard carry to make the final score 48-14.  
Assistant Coach for the Miners Sefa Pua’auli said “We had a great practice week.  That was the biggest issue.  If we practice well, we can play well.” when being asked what the keys were to winning their first game.  
For the Trojans, Grant Mayfield led the team with 111 rushing yards.  
Trent Corbin also added 27 rushing yards for the Trojans.  Quarterback Grant Mayfield passed for 15 yards on two completions. 
The Miners now improve to 1-3 while the Trojans are 2-2.  The Miners play at Frankfort next week while Hampshire plays Keyser at home.
