BRIDGEPORT - Romney Post 91 had a 4-2 advantage heading into the 6th inning, but Wheeling Post 1 managed to crank out 1 run in the 6th inning and 2 runs in the 7th inning to win the first game of the state tournament 5-4.

BRIDGEPORT - Romney Post 91 had a 4-2 advantage heading into the 6th inning, but Wheeling Post 1 managed to crank out 1 run in the 6th inning and 2 runs in the 7th inning to win the first game of the state tournament 5-4.  
Andrew Liller pitched 6 solid innings giving up 5 hits and 3 runs for Post 91. At the plate Foster Conis led the way with 3 hits, 1 run, and 1 RBI.
John Ackerman added to the Romney offense with 2 hits and 1 RBI, while John Judy, Brett Whiteman, and Blake Wasson each added 1 hit.
The American Legion state tournament format is double elimination therefore Romney still has a chance to capture the West Virginia state title.  Game 2 is scheduled for today July 27th, at noon.
