SHORT GAP--Hampshire spoiled senior night at Frankfort Monday night, taking the decisive advantage and holding on by a 53-49 final. Kirsten Sowers led all scorers with 21 for the Trojans, with another 14 points from Emily Carl. Katie Beeman made the most of her senior night with a Falcon-high 20 points, nine rebounds, and three steals, while Abby Beeman had 15 points and eight rebounds.
The game was close through the first half, with Frankfort holding a slim 17-15 lead after eight minutes but Hampshire cutting it in half, to 33-32, at the half, and as Frankfort got shut down, threes from Sowers and Carl sparked the Trojans to a 46-38 lead after three. Frankfort attempted a comeback of their own and managed to hold Hampshire without a field goal, but Sowers scored all of the Trojans’ final points in a 7-for-8 free throw shooting performance down the stretch to ice it for the visitors.
Frankfort’s final regular season contest will be less a tuneup for the playoffs than a baptism by fire, as they host powerhouse Fairmont Senior Thursday night.
