CUMBERLAND - The Keyser Lady Tornado traveled to Cumberland and defeated the Bishop Walsh Spartans 55-38. Keyser was sluggish getting off the bus and only scored 9 points in the first quarter which allowed the Lady Spartans to gain a 13-9 advantage after eight minutes of play.
The key to victory for Keyser was a 21 point second quarter outburst with Lexi Turner dropping 5 field goals for 10 points and Brie Kunis scoring 8 points. The Lady Tornado put on a defensive clinic holding Bishop Walsh to 6 points which gave Keyser a 30-19 lead at halftime.
Keyser continued to dominate both sides of the ball in the third quarter scoring 14 points offensively and allowing the Lady Spartans to score only 7 points. With an 18 point lead to start the fourth quarter, Keyser coasted to an easy 55-38 victory over Bishop Walsh.
Brie Kunis was the games top scorer nailing 4 shots from beyond the arc to finish with 18 points. Lexi Turner scored all 13 of her points in the second and third quarters. Bethany Jones, Makenna Staggers, and Jayna Wilson all finished the game with 6 points. For Bishop Walsh, Cara Bako finished the game with 13 points while Kyara Bible scored 7 points. Next up for Keyser (13-7) is a home game against Southern on February 15th.
