I am W. “Butch” Wahl candidate for the Mineral County Board of   Education, District One.  I pledge, if elected, to listen to the citizens, parents, students, and school employees, practice fiscal responsibility, maintain and expand our community schools, and restore confidence in the Board to be the controlling force over Mineral County Schools.
I am a 1979 graduate of Atlantic Christian College, and a 1985 graduate of East Carolina University.  I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Master’s Degree in Education for Learning Disabilities.  I have 45 hours of additional credit through W.V.U. and Marshall University, with additional certification for Behavioral Disorders and Alternative Education.
I have been an educator for 28 ½ years, 12 ½ with Mineral County Schools.  Currently, I am employed with the W.V. Department of Education.  I have also coached cross country, basketball, and track teams at Elk Garden and Keyser High Schools.
I am a member of the W.V. Education Association and former President of the Mineral County Education Association.
I, like most of you readers, am well aware of the difficulties facing Mineral County Schools.  Identifying the problems is the easy part.  
How we go about solving these problems is a decision which will have a lasting impact on our school system and our children. 
We must make sure that the programs, policies, and strategies, implemented by the Board are not quick fixes that keep us behind the curve.  But are instead, well researched, well thought out, fiscal responsible plans that have a clear vision of what we want for out children and Mineral County Schools.
