To Whom It May Concern,
For four years now I have been working with the Department of Highways trying to get better roads in Mineral County.
I have been trying to get more guard rails up in different areas on Green Mountain and I have been trying to get yellow lines all the way up to Pinnacle Road.
This road is very dangerous in the winter and the summer. The fog is so bad it’s pathetic. You can’t see in front of you.
The yellow lines we do have help out. I have written the DOH in Charleston and told them what we need.
They write back that you cannot put yellow lines on the tire and chip, and we all know that.
The first thing we need is a good hot tire mix. Our roads have become terrible with pot holes.
The only thing the the DOH has done is come up here and give you a big story and by the end of summer will tell you they have no money.
They come back and patch the holes here and there.
There can be yellow markers on the road once they put decent tire and chip on Pinnacle Road and they can put reflectors down in the center of the road. But every time you ask them, they have no money.
The New Creek District area is pretty good on Green Mountain. They do their job.
Every year they have a sale and they leave Mineral County short of trucks.
Under the supervision of Timmy Jones and the Allegany Front, Timmy does an excellent job of keeping the back roads open.
But most of the time he’s left with a shortage of trucks. People then get upset because the roads aren’t done.
You can’t blame Timmy for this.
It comes from District 5. They need to get on the DOH and Mr. Mattox.
It’s time the DOH started doing its job and Mr. Mattox needs to stop grinning and get some work done on these roads.
