Monty W. Burdette, 74, of Parrill Hollow Road, Burlington, WV, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, MD.
Born on April 17, 1934 at Marfrance, WV, he was a son of the late Robert M. and Violet M. (Hoke) Burdette. He also was preceded in death by four sisters, Lorena Kowalsky, Retha Stallings, Janet Sullivan and Patsy Austin and two brothers, Donald and Robert Burdette.
Mr. Burdette was a self employed fork lift mechanic. He was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, New Creek, WV.
Surviving are his wife, Esther M. (Thompson) Burdette; his children, Michael Burdette, Wayne Burdette, Brenda Penegray, Deborah Moore, Cynthia Carroll and Angelina Burdette; two stepdaughters, Linda Criswell of Burton, Michigan and Janice Jones of Livingston, TX; a brother, Thurl Lee Burdette and wife Margaret of Catonsville, MD; two nieces, Suzanne Burdette and Amy Burdette, both of Catonsville and a grandniece, Cassidy Burdette. Also surviving are one stepgrandchild, Danielle Foy; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Brittany Criswell and Alexandra and Taya Foy; one stepgreat-great-grandchild, Kaylee Peterson and a brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalsky of Cambridge, MD.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, August 22 from 2-4 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, August 22 at 4:30 p.m. with Rev. James "Sonny" Dodds officiating.
