Roger D. Canfield, 60, of HC 72, Box 380, Keyser, WV, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, WV.
Born on February 20, 1948 at Elkins, WV, he was a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Canfield and Josie Elizabeth (Hendrixson) Canfield. He also was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Mr. Canfield was employed as an electrician with New Page in Luke, MD with 38 years of service. He was a member of I.B.E.W., Local # 1635, Cumberland, MD and was affiliated with the Duling United Methodist Church, Keyser. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving two tours of duty, and was a life member of both Queens Point Memorial Post # 6775, VFW, McCoole, MD and Kelly-Mansfield Post # 52, American Legion, Piedmont, WV.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Sandy Kay (Wertman) Canfield; one son, Eddie D. Canfield and wife Tamra of Mountain Lake Park, MD; two brothers, James Canfield and Michael Canfield, both of Cumberland, MD; two sisters, Effie Lou Bridges of Florida and Rose Marie Clites, Mt. Savage, MD and his pride and joy, his three grandsons, Bryce, Brady and Brent Canfield.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, April 25 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Brenda Forren officiating.
Interment will be in the Duling Cemetery, Keyser. Graveside military honors will be accorded by Chapter # 172, Vietnam Veterans of America, Cumberland, MD.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society, 182 N. Mechanic Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.
