Charles A. "Bud" Miller, Jr., 66, of Rt. 3, Box 3320, Mountain View Road, Keyser, WV, went to be with the Lord at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with dementia.
Born on September 13, 1941 at Keyser, WV, he was a son of the late Charles A. Miller, Sr. and Nola Mae (Hartman) Miller.
Mr. Miller was a 1960 graduate of Keyser High School, a 1965 graduate of Potomac State College and a 1967 graduate of Frostburg State College. He retired in 1996 with 30 years of service with the Allegany County Board of Education, having taught English at Bruce High School in Westernport for 5 years and as a guidance counselor at Westmar High School for 25 years. He also served in the United States Army for three years and was a member of the Keyser Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed bluegrass music, playing in several area bands and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Twila L. (Evans) Miller; one son, Peter L. Miller of Houston, Texas; one very special granddaughter, Sarah L. Miller of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Debra Miller of Houston; one brother, John A. Miller and wife Diane of Keyser; three sisters, Emma Sue Berg and husband Lowell of Petersburg, WV, Sarah M. Griffin and husband Terry of Panama City Beach, FL and Elwanda Myers and husband Gaylon of Foley, Alabama and nine nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, May 3 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dwight Ramsey officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
