GORMANIA, W.Va. -

Gertrude G. Schaeffer, 100 of Gormania, WV, died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at her home.
Born August 15, 1908 in Dobin, WV, she was the daughter of the late Edward R. and Laura C. Rager. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles W. Schaeffer, two sons Edward R. and David Lee Schaeffer; by one grandchild, Edward Charles “Skip” Schaeffer, by one great grandson Brandon Tiffany.
Mrs. Schaeffer was an active member of the Gormania United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She and her husband operated the Ft. Pendleton Service Station on Rt. 50. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was active volunteer at the voting polls.
Surviving is one daughter Betty Burton of Scottsboro, AL; daughter-in-law Nita Schaeffer of Gormania; 5 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Also surviving are her very dear caregivers and friends.
The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, MD on Thursday, August 28, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Graveside services and burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2008 at the Mt. Storm Cemetery, Mt. Storm, WV, with the Rev. William McCallister officiating.
