Zelda M. Welch
Zelda Mae Welch, 92, of Burlington, WV, died Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, WV.
Born on October 12, 1917 at Keyser, WV, she was a daughter of the late Rosser Parrill and Annis Dorothy (Likin) Bane. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Creed T. Welch on February 28, 1993; two brothers, Eldred and Dwight Bane; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Sue Welch and a son-in-law, Ronald S. Dantzic. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Welch was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was formerly employed as a cook at the Burlington Elementary School for six years. She was a former member of the Lone Star United Methodist Church and was a current member of the First Baptist Church, Burlington.
Surviving are two sons, Russell Wayne Welch and wife Betty and Ivan M. Welch and wife Beverly; one daughter, Elvena M. Dantzic, all of Burlington; a special sister-in-law, Mary Bane of Romney, WV; three grandchildren, Ronald "Squeak" Dantzic, Vicki Isenberg, and Mike Welch; five great-grandchildren, Michelle Taylor, Sheldon Dantzic, Shania Isenberg, Jessika Welch and Jacob Welch and four great-great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Aryonna and Blake. Also surviving are four stepgrandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren and three step great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Samuel Biser officiating.
Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, WV.
