Homer W. Roy
FARMINGTON, W.Va. - Homer W. Roy, 86, of Farmington, W.Va., formerly of Keyser, W.Va., died Monday, March 1, 2010, at the Fairmont General Hospital, Fairmont, W.Va.
Born on Aug. 28, 1923, at Flintstone, Md., he was a son of the late William Martin Roy and Grace (Ketterman) Roy Dolly. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Helen (McNeill) Roy, on August 3, 1989; two infant daughters; a granddaughter and a daughter-in-law.
Mr. Roy was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Roy was retired as farm manager at Potomac State College Farm # 2 with over 16 years of service. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was a life member of both Boyce-Houser Post # 41, American Legion and Nancy Hanks Post # 3518, VFW, Keyser. He was Methodist by faith and formerly attended the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, New Creek, W.Va. He also was a member of the Bethel Homemakers Club in Farmington and was a member of the former Olive Branch Lodge, Knights of Pythias, Keyser.
Surviving are five sons, William M. "Bill" Roy, Fred Roy and wife Margie, and Buster Roy and wife Anna, all of Keyser, Dennis Roy and wife Dottie of Core, W.Va., and Tom Roy and wife Michele of Keyser; four daughters, Barbara Smith and husband Ben of Farmington, Margaret "P-Nut" Roy of Keyser, Judi Roy of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Robyn Llewellyn and husband Tim of Keyser; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. and on Friday, March 5, 2010, for one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, March 5, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Fred Roy officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home following the service.
Interment will be in the Queen's Point Cemetery, Keyser.
