Ronald O. Likin
KEYSER, W.Va. - Ronald O. Likin, 76, of Rt. 4, Stony Run Road, Keyser, W.Va., died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at his residence.
Born on April 20, 1933, at Antioch, W.Va., he was a son of the late Roy O. and Nettie G. (Alt) Likin. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Likin; and two sisters, Louetta Likin and Blanche Liller.
Mr. Likin was retired as a conductor with the CSX Railroad with 44 years of service. An accomplished gunsmith, he also owned and operated Likin's Gun Shop for many years and also formerly worked in the pulpwood-cutting industry and was a "jack of all trades." He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a life member of Nancy Hanks Post # 3518, VFW, Keyser, Boyce-Houser Post # 41, American Legion, Keyser and the New Creek Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, the United Transportation Union and the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Marguerite P. (Ahern) Likin; two sons, Richard O. Likin and wife Betsy of Keyser and Ronald R. Likin and wife Kathryn of Cumberland, Md.; two daughters, Gloria Jean Carr and husband Leonard of Maysville, W.Va., and Bonnie Sue Likin of Keyser; one sister, Waunetta N. Campi and husband Jim of McCoole, Md.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Alberta Likin of Keyser; and a brother-in-law, Arthur "Bill" Liller of New Creek, W,Va.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, March 18, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, March 19, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. James "Sonny" Dodds officiating.
Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, W.Va. Graveside military honors will be accorded.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Mountain Hospice, Inc. 1600 Crim Avenue, Belington, WV 26250.
