Martha “Mary” Kephart
KEYSER - Martha A. "Mary" Welsh Kephart, 84, of St. Cloud Street, Keyser, W.Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, Md.
Born on Dec. 18, 1925, at Westernport, Md., she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Bertha (Trenum) Paugh. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil T. "Mickey" Welsh.
Mrs. Kephart was a self employed musician, having been a drummer and a vocalist in a band called Two Hits and a Miss in Cumberland and the Shangri-Las in Florida. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Keyser.
Surviving are her husband, Frederick L. Kephart; two daughters, Dolores M. Simpson and husband Gene of Keyser, and Susan K. Pifer of Chambersburg, Pa.; three stepchildren, Gary Kephart, Patti Pattison and Dale Kephart and wife Peggy, all of Keyser; a brother, Bill Costanzo and wife Bonnie of Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and her faithful companion, her pet poodle, Kylie.
At Mrs. Kephart's request, there will be no public viewing.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Randy Crowe officiating.
Interment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pompano Beach, Fla.
