KEYSER, W.Va. -

Z. David Callis, 64, of Keyser, died on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born on September 5, 1943 in Bloomington, MD, he was the son of Floretta (Rhodes) Callis Kelly of Westernport, MD and the late Frederick Zihlman Callis. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Ruby Agnew and step father, William Kelly, Grandparents, William David and Zelda Mae (Wilson) Rhodes and Joseph Wesley Callis and Florence (Wiland) Callis Martin.
Dave was an Industrial Engineer & Chief Estimator at Walter N. Yoder & Sons, Inc. Construction Co., Pinto, MD and former maintenance supervisor at VEPCO.  He was union contract negotiator in Covington, VA.  He was a 1961 graduate of Bruce High School, and attended Hagerstown Community College and Frostburg University and received engineering training though VEPCO and Yoder’s.  He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and attended Antioch United Methodist Church. A U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran, he was a life boy scout, avid golfer and member of Fore Sister Men’s Golf Assn, volunteer WM Health System, Relay for Life and former co-chairman for Toys for Tots.  His hobbies were woodcrafts.
Surviving in addition to his mother, Floretta, are his wife Connie (Agnew) Callis, three daughters, Debra Lynn Callis of Ashville, NC, Ellen Elaine Hughes and husband Josh of Ranson, WV and Christy J. Hardy and husband Roy “Tuck” of Keyser; a son Frederick Callis of Cumberland; two sister, Cindy Scheermesser and husband Edward of Westernport and Rita Mayola and husband Sylvio of Wycliff, Ky; six grandchildren, Autumn L. Smith, Braxton A. and Addisyn T. Hughes, Katherine E., Thomas E. and Michael E. Hardy.  He is also survived by brothers-in-law: Dr. Daniel Kelly Agnew, Brenden Craig Agnew and wife Stephanie, Buddy Pardine, Bernard Bland and wife Georgia and Wilda Marstiller; nieces and nephews: Kelsey and Brendan Agnew, Dakota Agnew, Shane and Amey Marstiller, Ashliegh and Jessica Bland, Daren and Amanda Pardine, Dr. Steven Scheermesser and wife Debbie, Jeanie Fazenbaker and husband Craig, Michael Mayola, Mark Mayola and wife Tracy, John Mayola and wife Bonnie and Jay Mayola and great nieces and nephew: Cannon & Cole Fazenbaker, Rachael, Brandy, Sarah, Matthew, Sylvio Dylon and Maggie Mayola.
Friend will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday, June 27, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Services will be conducted at Markwood Funeral Home on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Gwen Wolford officiating.
Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, W.Va. where military honors will be accorded.
