Hazel Harden
FORT ASHBY - Hazel Pauline (Bosley) Harden, 74, of Fort Ashby, WV, fell asleep in death on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the Lions Manor Nursing Center, Cumberland, Md.
Born on Oct. 5, 1935, in Fort Ashby, W.Va., she was a a daughter of the late Clarence W. and Frances V. (Fleek) Bosley. On April 5, 1953, she married Harold Thomas Harden. He preceded her in death February 19, 2004. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Bosley.
Mrs. Harden was a 1952 graduate of Fort Ashby High School. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. There were many fun summers to remember-having cookouts, going to the park, watching movies and playing games. She greatly enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and was an avid reader. One of her favorite pastimes was sitting on her porch swing watching the birds at their feeders.
Surviving are four sons, Thomas N. Harden and wife Linda of Ridgeley, W.Va., Michael S. Harden and wife Sun of San Antonio, Texas, Terry L. Harden and wife Cindy of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Patrick W. Harden and wife Brenda of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Holly A. Kidwell and husband Derrick of Levels, W.Va., Jason W. Harden of Gerrardstown, Brian S. Harden and wife Amber of Statesville, N.C., Brandi N. Hershberger and husband Shawn of West Point, Va., William D. Harden of Gerrardstown, Melissa R. Kidwell and husband Travis of Levels, John H. Harden of San Antonio and Sierra S. Harden of San Antonio; two stepgrandchildren, Shannon and William; nine great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Thelma Fulk of Gerrardstown, Anna Morris of Harrisonburg, Va., Blanche Hanlin of Keyser, W.Va., and Roxie Green of Fort Ashby; three brothers, Loren Bosley of Fort Ashby, Don Bosley of Broadway, Va., and David Bosley of Cumberland, Md., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Fort Ashby Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
