Kenneth A. See
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Kenneth Austin See, 81, of Ashland Avenue, Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Piedmont and Keyser, W.Va., died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at the Northeast Florida Community Hospice Acosta-Rua Center for Caring in Jacksonville.
Born on July 14, 1928, at Keyser, W.Va., he was a son of the late Joseph Ashby and Mary Ellen (Stewart) See. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Jane (Blackburn) See; three sisters, Cora Clayton, Catherine Wolf and Rose Perry; a brother, William "Bill" See; and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Holmes.
Mr. See was a 1947 graduate of Keyser High School and was a member of three KHS basketball squads; two of which have been inducted into the KHS Hall of Fame. "Fleetfoot," as he was known, was the team captain in his senior year.
Mr. See served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a retired paper maker, having been employed at the Westvaco Luke Mill for 40 years.
Surviving are his second wife, Mary Elizabeth (Varner) See of Jacksonville; a sister, Frances Maxine Aikens of Hagerstown, Md.; four sons, Kenneth A. See Jr. and wife Patience of Adrian, Mich., David Lee Holmes of Herndon, Va., Joseph Michael Ritter and wife Misty of Thomas, W.Va., and Bobby Lee Hall and wife Paulette of Zephyrhills, Fla.; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Samuel Biser officiating.
Visitation with family and friends will be one hour prior to the service.
Private interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
