Mamie E. "Fritze" Borror
FORT ASHBY - Mamie E. "Fritze" Borror, 88, of Leon Drive, Fort Ashby, W.Va., formerly of Keyser, W.Va., and Fairfax, Va.,, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at her residence.
Born on July 27, 1921, at Westernport, Md., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Perry and Ethel Florence (Mitchell) Spitzer Hedrick. She was also preceded in death by a son, William J. "Billy Joe" Borror, on June 9, 1993; a grandson, Richard Landis; two sisters, Sarah C. Kuh and Myra Crowe; a half sister and all of her half brothers.
Mrs. Borror was a profile analyst with the Defense Intelligence Agency and prior to that was an IBM Specialist with the US Army Communication Agency. She was a 1939 graduate of Keyser High School and attended Otterbein Brethren College in Dayton, Va. She was a member of Unity Chapter #201 Order of the Eastern Star, Falls Church, Va., Ladies Auxiliary to Boyce-House Post #41, American Legion, Keyser and was a Lady Noble with the Ali Ghan Shrine Club, Cumberland. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Keyser, since 1927 where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
Surviving are her husband of 65 1/2 years, William M. Borror; a son, Richard Landis and wife Phyllis of Severn, Md.; a daughter, Sue Strickland Firman and husband Gary of Blanchester, Ohio; one sister, Mabel F. Twigg of Hayward, Calif; five grandchildren, Greg and Bill Strickland of Dayton, Ohio, Anita Disney and husband Tom and Scotty Landis, all of Severn, Kitty Landis of Memphis, Ariz.; a granddaughter-in-law, Gina Landis of Glen Burnie, Md. and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, March 15, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at Calvary United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bill Linhart officiating. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the service.
Entombment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Keyser.
