Marvin Vause “Scoot” Reel
Born July 22, 1922
Died July 2, 2010
The Keyser American Legion, Boyce-Houser Post 41, and the Keyser VFW Post 3518 will be holding a memorial service for Marvin “Scoot” Reel on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at 5:30 p.m. at the Keyser American Legion on South Main Street in Keyser.
Marvin Reel was a lifetime resident of Keyser. He was married to his wife Hazel for 69 years. He was a lifetime member of Keyser American Legion, Boyce Houser Post 41, life member of Keyser Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3518, and a member of AARP.
He served in World War II, where he was a prisoner of war in Germany. He received the Purple Heart and five commendation ribbons.
Mr. Reel worked for the Mineral County School System for 30 years, where he had perfect attendance for 27 years. He taught at Wiley Ford Elementary School, was principal at Antioch Elementary School, and retired from teaching at Keyser Middle School.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel M. Reel of Keyser; a son, Dennis Reel of Berkeley Springs; and a daughter, Cecilia Call of Dunes Acres, Ind.; four grandchildren, Dennis S. Reel II, Zorro Reel, Randy Kooken and Ed Kooken; and five great-grandchildren.
All friends of Marvin Reel are welcome to attend the service.
The doors will open at 5 p.m. and the memorial service will begin at 5:30 p.m.
